Using an AI to simulate pressure is fine, but don't let it become a crutch for 'politeness fillers.' In Lao, when you're stuck, use 'เอ่อ...' (er...) or 'คือว่า...' (kue wa... - 'it’s like...'). These are natural bridges that keep the conversation flowing while your brain searches for the vocabulary. Instead of relying on the bot to give you the answer, use it to practice circumlocution. If you forget 'spoon' (ບ່ວງ - buang), practice explaining it as 'the thing for eating' (ອັນທີ່ໃຊ້ກິນເຂົ້າ - an tee sai kin khao). Learning to describe your way out of a blank spot is a much more valuable skill than memorizing specific travel phrases.

You’re overthinking the 'dependency' aspect. Six months in, your brain is still mapping those tricky Lao tones to your mouth muscles. The panic happens because you're worried about the tone shifting and losing meaning. My advice: stop worrying about the script's vowel placement for a second and focus on the prosody. If you get stuck with the AI, force yourself to use a gesture. In Laos, pointing or a polite nod often replaces the word you're missing. Try to pair the AI drill with a mirror—talk to the bot, but watch your own face. The 'blank' feeling usually comes from tension in the jaw, which ruins your ability to hit the high/rising tones correctly anyway.

AI is a decent sandbox, but you have to break the 'courage' training wheels eventually. The real trap in Lao isn't just the words; it's the sentence structure and the particles (ເດີ, ເດ, ເນາະ). When you talk to the AI, stop and force yourself to add a particle even when you're struggling. It buys you time and makes you sound much more natural even if your grammar is broken. Also, try this: record yourself talking to the bot, listen back, and note exactly where you panic. Is it because you forgot the noun or because you panicked about the tone? Usually, it's the tone. Isolate the tones of the words you blank on and drill them separately with a native audio dictionary like SEAlang. It’s boring, but it kills the panic.
