The 'vowel wall' is a common hurdle, but you're probably over-relying on phonetics. Hebrew script is logographic in practice for native speakers; we recognize the shape of the word, not the pronunciation. My advice: use the 'Sefaria' app. They have dual-text features where you can toggle nikkud on and off for the same passage. Start with a paragraph with vowels, read it twice, then flip the vowels off and read it again immediately. Your brain will map the unvoweled text to the sound you just processed. Do this for 10 minutes a day and your reading speed will jump.

Stop trying to read the whole sentence. When I was at this stage, I forced myself to identify the 3-letter root (shoresh) first. If you see 'ל-מ-ד', your brain shouldn't be sounding out vowels; it should instantly trigger 'study/learning' concepts. Practice by taking news headlines from Ynet and highlighting the roots. Don't worry about the conjugation or the missing vowels yet—just train your eyes to 'chunk' the words based on the root patterns. Once you recognize the root, the binyan (verb pattern) usually fills itself in subconsciously after a few weeks of exposure.

You’re likely hitting a wall because of gendered verb endings. The missing vowels make it hard to tell the difference between 'אתה אוכל' (ata ochel) and 'את אוכלת' (at ochelet) if you aren't scanning the suffixes. Don't focus on reading fluently yet—focus on pattern recognition for endings. Print out a table of common binyan suffixes (like -ti, -ta, -at, -nu) and treat them as visual 'anchors.' When you see a word ending in 'ת', your brain should automatically look for feminine markers. Shift your focus from 'reading' to 'pattern scanning' and the speed will come naturally.
