Why do my nasal vowels sound 'off' to native speakers? I record myself every day.

You're likely hitting the 'n' too hard. In Kreyòl, the nasal vowel is a single sound produced in the nasal cavity; the 'n' in spelling is just a marker, not a consonant you need to articulate with your tongue. Try the 'humming bridge' drill: say 'kaaaaa' while humming through your nose, then immediately transition to 'kann' without letting your tongue bridge the roof of your mouth. If you hear a distinct 'n' sound, you're over-clenching. Focus on the airflow, not the consonant.

One trap learners fall into is 'nasalizing' by pushing the back of their tongue up like they're about to say a hard 'ng' sound. Don't do that. Keep your tongue flat and relaxed at the bottom of your mouth. Also, stop over-emphasizing the nasal sound—it should feel like a slight vibration in your nose, not a heavy grunt. If you're using an AI voice generator to practice, be careful; many models struggle with the specific nuance of Kreyòl orthography vs phonetics. Stick to the 'Pimsleur' style audio or local radio clips from Radio Télé Kiskeya to get the real cadence.

I struggled with this for months until a native speaker told me to stop thinking about French nasalization. French vowels often feel 'tighter' or more forward in the mouth. Haitian nasal vowels are generally more open and relaxed. Recording yourself is great, but try recording a native speaker saying 'kan' vs 'kann' and use an audio visualizer tool like Praat or just a basic spectrographic app. You'll literally see if you're closing off the airflow too early. It helped me realize I was cutting the vowel short, which makes the nasality sound forced.
