As a teacher, I see this daily. The trap is trying to speak full sentences too early. Try the 'Shadowing with Emphasis' drill. Take a Danish podcast, listen to a 5-second clip, and repeat it exactly, exaggerating the stressed vowel. The V2 order in Danish is tied to the 'stød' and vowel reduction—Danes swallow unstressed syllables to make the verb pop into that second slot. If you focus on the rhythm of the sentence rather than the grammar rules, the V2 word order will actually feel more natural, like you're following a musical beat rather than a syntax textbook. Slow down and let the verb land on the second 'beat'.

The V2 rule is brutal when you're tired. I stopped trying to translate in my head and started using 'sentence frames' instead. Don't think about individual words. Visualize a slot machine: [Slot 1: Topic] [Slot 2: Verb] [Slot 3: Subject]. If your subject isn't first, the verb MUST jump to the second position. I practiced this by narrating my day out loud: 'I går spiste jeg...' (Yesterday ate I). If I caught myself saying 'I går jeg spiste,' I had to reset and say it again correctly. It felt robotic for weeks, but eventually, the 'verb-second' rhythm became a physical habit rather than a math problem.

I wouldn't bank too much on Chickytutor or any app for this. They're great for vocab, but they can't replicate the pressure of a real conversation. My advice? Write sticky notes for your mirror with common 'V2 triggers' like 'I går' (yesterday), 'Tit' (often), or 'Derfor' (therefore). Every time you see one, force yourself to say a sentence aloud where the verb follows immediately after that phrase. You have to train your mouth to stutter or pause before the subject if you're not sure where the verb goes. It’s better to pause and get the structure right than to blast out English-order Danish that stops making sense after four words.
